Sorry, spoke too fast.
This is working fine in 5.1 (demo.globalqss.com)
But in branch default is failing (test.idempiere.org)
The jenkins task shows the following:
http://ci.idempiere.org/view/All/job/Update%20test.idempiere.org/79/console
So, the update process first uninstall products and then install them, but seems like when uninstalling the products is deleting a required jarfile plugins/org.eclipse.equinox.launcher_1.*.jar

i test on my local and don't get that issue
you will got issue if you update a old server (i mean server create before tycho) but look it's not your case.
please give me current binary of server, so i can investigate it.
Thanks Hiep for taking the time to review it.
I think the issue with test.idempiere.org vs ci.idempiere.org can be related to some cache - or delay in updating the p2 repository.
So, I increased the time to start the deployment from 60 to 180 seconds - let's see how it behaves in future.
As you can see this one failed:
http://ci.idempiere.org/view/All/job/Update%20test.idempiere.org/82/console
it was launched automatically 1 minute after the iDempiere-mvn task finished.
And this one was succesful:
http://ci.idempiere.org/view/All/job/Update%20test.idempiere.org/83/console
it was launched manually 10 minutes after the iDempiere-mvn task finished.

Seems like update.sh is broken again in dev, like here:
http://ci.idempiere.org/job/Update%20test.idempiere.org/101/console
Errors like:
update.sh is broken again in 6.1
When running the update.sh is showing a warning message:
After running update.sh the homepage is broken.
All the links inside keep working example:
https://test.idempiere.org/webui/
https://test.idempiere.org:8443/idempiereMonitor
https://test.idempiere.org:8443/osgi/system/console
https://test.idempiere.org/ADInterface/services/ModelADService?wsdl
But the home page:
https://test.idempiere.org/
is broken after the update - it shows an exception:
