Another point is to add "sql searches" to the list of the searches the user can choose of. That means I can a) do my own searches using the "find window", b) use searches from a power user that shared them with me and c) use very specific and powerful searches that the implementor did in sql

In the original migration script, I did what you say of updating the field and checking centrally mantained = 'N', but only on the new User Queries window. I updated a new patch removing the change in AD_Column and adding the change in the field in the User → Queries tab.
can you share how GUI changes ? how this influence enduser work ? n
The GUI changes are the same as the ones from , this ticket just extends those changes to allow the advanced users to create more powerful queries with SQL .
BTW: Regarding your comment on about a default user query, I will create a new ticket for that improvement.
